The Longest Class Ever

I went to class on Saturday and it was a tough one.

We started off with a shortened version of the usual warm-up. Then we did a running warm-up. We did just plain running across the room, touching the target, and running back. Next we ran, touched the target, and then ran back backwards. We then did sidesteps all the way down and back. We also did one of my favorites, where you twist your waist and step behind and in front of your other foot. Anyone know what you call that? Haha. So then we did running in place (with kihaps) and then ran across the room. We did that twice. Then we did ten push-ups, get up, and run across the room and back. We did fifteen sit-ups next, got up, and ran across the room and back. After everyone was done with that we did backwards sit-ups. You lay on your stomach and lift your upper body using only your back muscles. We ran across the room and back yet again and then we lined up in partners. Of course, Donna and I were partners. We did straddle splits afterwards and then stood up and did partner front snap kicks. Following those, we did partner roundhouse kicks. Then we had our one minute break and came back and did our form.

We did so many things in that class that it felt never ending! But it was a lot of fun!

The Injury

Of course, on Friday the 13th, Donna finally agreed to go to sparring.

So we went and we started with warm-up. But instead of normal warm-up, we did a running warm up. EW! Next we moved onto to targets. Since there weren't many of us, we all lined up and Master Kim held the target. We did a few drills with those. Then we moved on to sparring. We got our gear on and headed to our spots. Donna and I started off pretty good. We hit each other a couple of times but other than that we did pretty good. Then Master Kim told us to rotate partners, making Donna partners with one of the men in the class and me partners with Master Kim. Oh boy! Master Kim wasn't wearing any gear so I felt like I shouldn't kick him. So I did a few kicks. I had no chance of hitting him of course, but I still tried. So at one point, I sort of ran towards him. He put his foot up and I fell down, flat on my back. I scrambled quickly to my feet and he said, "You ran right into my foot!" I replied, "I think your foot ran into me, sir!" So after a little while more, Donna and I were partnered up again. We were doing about the same as before. Then I think I went to punch and Donna went to kick and my fist collided with her knee. Immediately, I felt a terrible pain in my wrist and it dropped to my side. I continued sparring but I couldn't make a fist. We kind of just went through the motions. Finally, the class ended. I left and went home and iced. Two days later, we went to the hospital. I had a bad sprain. Then I went on vacation and came back the 28th. I have two more classes to catch up on. I'll keep you posted!
